Relating God's Love To Other Men (Bible Study)

THEME: Preaching the Gospel (1 cor 9:16)

TOPIC: The love of God

TEXT: 1 Timothy 2: 1-4, John 3:11-21

AIM:
 1. To understand that Preaching the Gospel is an instruction from Jesus Christ who came to perfect the work of redemption as a show of the Father’s love;
2. To understand the magnitude of the gift which the father has given through the death of his son as a show of His love
3. To make known why the saving Love of the father should be passed unto others.

INTRODUCTION:
“For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
As believers, we have been instructed by Christ to go forth into the world to speak to other men about the good works He has done and how he has by that gifted us with the abilities to do such good works; evidences of the Father’s Love towards man. (Mark 16:15-20). Most times, we cloud our knowledge and understanding with zeal of which working with zeal yet without knowledge yields nothing. There is a need to understand the concept of the Gospel itself which is all about “The details of the works of Christ on earth and how it affects us as believers”.

Now relating that gospel to others has to do with making them understand how it is a show of God’s love to all men. At least, for them to stop seeing God as a hard and difficult God. There is a need for us to understand that the gift of God is immeasurable because we could not have been able to save ourselves but Christ who gave Himself for men; a show of his Love (Romans 5:6-8, 7:24). Therefore, there is a need to understand the essentiality of the Love of God and how it relates to the need for us to preach it and teach it.

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION

1. How best would you describe the Love of God to you and all men? (Romans 5:5, Ephesians 2:1-5, Titus 3:3-7)

2. What is the relationship between God’s Love and the new life we have as believers? (2 Corinthians 5: 15-19)

3.
a. Why do we as believers should not in any way take preaching the Gospel (The Father’s Love work) to all men with levity? (2 Corinthians 5:20, Mark 16:15-20)
b. What should be our attitude towards the knowledge of God’s Love towards us as believers? (Mark 16: 19-20)

4. Without reading the referenced passage; to the very best of your understanding, is there any limitation to the love of God to all men? (whatever the answer is, now you may check) (Psalm 86:15)

CONCLUSION
Now knowing fully well the importance of the Love of God to us as believers and how it has been the sole cause of the redemptive work Christ in the lives of all men, it is now mandated that everyone take heed to preaching the word to all men. For the saving we were saved is not unto purposelessness.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
God is too responsible to call any man into irresponsibility.
