EVANGELISM (PART 2)

Romans 10
13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15. And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Think about how many will go to hell if you don't evangelize, that alone should move you to evangelize. And this I know, there's no way you will think about the Lord and His work, and not evangelize. You will be moved to reach the lost. The Lord's work is the business of souls. If you are not winning souls, you are not doing the Lord's work.

Everytime you shut your mouth from preaching the gospel, you shut the door of eternal life against a soul. Think about it! We've been commanded to go out and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15). Are you obeying this command? Are you carrying out this assignment? You are not in obedience to the Lord if you don't evangelize. But you should care more about obeying the Lord. It is God who does the conversion; ours is to obey and preach.

When we preach, He does the conversion. And when we don't preach, no conversion can be done. Hence Paul said, "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Rom. 10:14) The summary is that, the lost will not be saved if we don't preach.

I don't want to know the consequence of not preaching the gospel, so I preach the gospel. I don't want to find out the number of those I shut the door of eternal life against because I refused to preach the gospel, so I preach the gospel. I don't want to ever discover that I did my own stuffs and not the Lord's because I didn't preach the gospel, so I preach the gospel. The gospel has become a necessity for me, and woe is me, if I don't preach the gospel (1 Cor. 916).

When I think about those I've lost to death who didn't know Jesus, tears roll down my eyes. Maybe if I had been more vocal in the preaching of the gospel. Maybe if I had taken to the streets to evangelize; publish salvation tracts and share; buy that horns speaker and proclaim Jesus. Maybe if I had taken time to look at them to see if they were truly saved. Just maybe! Maybe I could have saved some.

Well, I have made mistakes. What can I do to correct the wrong in this regard? Simple, I preach the gospel radically. I evangelize today as if it's my last day on earth. I do my best to make sure the lost hear the gospel almost everyday. It pays to lose sleep over this. It pays to go hungry because of this.

No believer received any other ministry apart from the word. An usher, a sanctuary keeper, a Sunday school teacher, a musician, or any other worker in the local church, who doesn't go out for evangelism, does not know what true ministry is. True ministry is evangelism; true ministry is soul winning. You are not in ministry if you don't win souls. The church of God must be deliberate about soul winning. Believers must bear the burden of souls in their heart. Evangelism is the core of the ministry of reconciliation. No evangelism, no soul wining; no soul winning, no reconciliation.

There's nothing to be joyful about a sinner who dies in his or her sin. Even in heaven, angels rejoice only when a sinner is saved, not when he is lost. This should make you evangelize.

I've found out that not going out for evangelism frequently is one of the ways to burn out and become cold in ministry. Some have gone cold because they stopped going out for evangelism. You can't be involved in evangelism frequently and not burn for God continually.

Some say they want to evangelize but don't know how to reach the lost. Really? If souls is what's on your mind, reaching them wouldn't be a problem. You will defy the odds and excuse the excuses. How do you go about getting the thing you passionately desire? You go out of your way to get it! Know this; eternal life will continue to be a distance away to the lost if we don't make evangelize at all times.

The ministry of the word is to be engaged in evangelism. If you are truly worded, then go out and win souls. And when you do this, don't wait for an applause. You don't have to be applauded for wining souls. Soul winning is our life. Nobody applauds anyone for living his life. Only God applauds us by rewarding our diligent service therein.

I close with this; if we have more prayer meetings and Christocentric teachings, we will have more men driven toward evangelism. If you don't evangelize, you are not yet fully living for the Lord; for the Lord's burden is souls.

You are blessed!

Prayer:
Dear Father, let my heart burn for souls. Amen.
