READ: In The Local Church (PART 1) - Apostle Raphael A. Macaulay

The local church is God's ordained institute for the training of the believer. We are taught in the local church, and we get to live what we're taught, with the oversight of our spiritual leaders.

Faith, love, forgiveness, character, honor, giving, submission...these are not just taught in the local church, but also, checked.

One of the greatest illusion of the believer is to claim God is your Father, Jesus is your Lord and the Holy Spirit is your Teacher, and so, you need no man to teach you.

How untrue, unscriptural, shallow and great a folly it is to hold such position when you didn't get saved without a man! Why do you think you won't need a man now that you are saved when God used a man to save you?

Or when Jesus said in Mark 16:15, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature", did He instruct spirits to do that? Obviously, He instructed men! We shouldn't listen to you on anything since you are a man and we don't need men to teach us!

"Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men" (Ephesians 4:8).

He gave gifts to men, not spirits. He gave gifts to men, not to Himself, but to men for our sake. It is thereforeally unscriptural to say that you don't need any man to teach you, and therefore, despise the local church where God has placed these gifts in men for our edification and perfection.

Christ must have made a mistake to give gifts to men, since some don't need men to grow in the faith. The Holy Spirit is their teacher, so they need no man to teach them anything?
How wrong they have understood 1 John 2:27!

But then, what does it say really? The context is about those who claimed to be with us but left us and come up with another gospel: they are the antichrists. These men deny Jesus as the Christ and as the Son of the Father (1 John 2:22-23). Such men are the ones you don't need to teach you anything, not the man the Lord Himself has gifted for your sake.

If truly 1 John 2:27 mean you don't need any man to teach you, like some have opined, then the writer himself, Apostle John, should be faulted, since he was very much a man when he wrote his epistles. The entire scriptures should be faulted and rejected since the Holy Spirit inspired them through men.

And Apostle Paul would clearly be in error when he said to Timothy, "And the things that thou hast heard of me (a man) among many witnesses, (men), the same commit thou to faithful MEN, who shall be able to TEACH others (men) also" (2 Timothy 2:2, brackets and emphasis mine).

It begins with a man, and it ends with men. The place of men in the move of God cannot be undermined. God has always used men for His work, and He will continue to use men. So, to despise the gift of men is to insult the wisdom of God is setting up the local church and the ministry gifts.

We continue tomorrow.

You are blessed!
